La Maison des parfums, a new centre of excellence combining the heritage of the Estée Lauder Group, its international brands and an innovation hub dedicated to luxury fragrance, has recently opened on Rue Volney in Paris. As the main partner of the off-site programm at Paris Perfume Week 2026, the venue will open its doors for a special workshop on 9 April. Lucas Nanini, Vice President of Fragrance Innovation, answered our questions.
La Maison des Parfums opened a few months ago in the heart of Paris. What prompted this decision?
The ambition of opening La Maison des Parfums was to establish Estée Lauder Companies’ position in the physical heart of the global fragrance ecosystem while accelerating and elevating our development in both luxury and prestige perfumery.
Paris was the natural choice. It is where leading fragrance houses, creative talent, and innovation leaders come together and being here allows us to fully engage with this unique and dynamic environment.
More than a physical space, La Maison des Parfums is a global center of excellence. It brings together our rich heritage, the Paris-based teams of our iconic brands, and The Atelier : our new fragrance innovation hub dedicated to next-generation fragrance creation. The Atelier was designed specifically to foster collaboration, creativity, and discovery, it embodies our vision of uniting artistry, science, and technology to shape the future of fragrance.
Does the Fragrance Lab, your innovation hub, represent a significant step forward for the fragrance division within the Estée Lauder Companies? What challenges does it present?
L’Atelier represents a key step forward in the development of our fragranced products. Our ambition is clear, to craft the next generation of iconic fragrances by bridging artistry, innovation, and scientific insight.
Our teams of experts in technical perfumery and innovation management support brands at every stage of the process, through an approach that combines data, olfactive prototyping, and the development and validation of new platforms and concepts.
It acts as a true engine of innovation across our entire portfolio – from Jo Malone London, Tom Ford, Le Labo, Kilian Paris, and Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle to Estée Lauder, Clinique, AERIN Beauty, Aramis, and Balmain Beauty. Each brand maintains its own unique identity, while benefiting from access to next-generation solutions.
The Estée Lauder Companies is the main off-site partner for Paris Perfume Week this year. What will you be offering?
On this occasion, we will open the doors of La Maison des Parfums for our first official afterwork.
Staying true to the visionary spirit of Mrs. Estée Lauder, we wanted to create a moment that celebrates both her heritage and today’s innovation by bringing together our archives team based in New York and our Atelier team in Paris.
The idea is to create a dialogue between past and future, to show how we bring our heritage to life while continuing to innovate in a fast-evolving fragrance landscape. The evening will conclude with a series of immersive and interactive experiences, inviting guests to engage more deeply with our olfactive universe.
Why did you decide to get involved in this event?
Following the opening of La Maison des Parfums, it felt essential for us to strengthen our ties with the local ecosystem, alongside committed partners such as Nez, while connecting with brands, creators, and innovation partners who share the same passion.
Our ambition is twofold. On the one hand, we want to open our doors and allow consumers to better discover Estée Lauder Companies – our history, our heritage, and our vision for the future of fragrance. On the other hand, we see an opportunity to act as true meeting point for the industry: a space for exchange with our partners, dialogue with other brands, and facilitate the emergence of new big ideas.
We hope this event marks the beginning of a series of more intimate gatherings, designed to foster conversation, networking, and inspiration around a shared passion for fragrance.
