The perfume-related know-how of the Pays de Grasse region was inscribed on the Intangible Cultural Heritage List on November 28, 2018, by the 178 signatory states of the Convention. The Living Heritage Association of the Pays de Grasse, then chaired by Jean-Pierre Leleux, with the support of Jérôme Viaud, Mayor of Grasse and President of the Communauté d’Agglomération du Pays de Grasse, submitted the application for “Perfume-Related Know-How in the Pays de Grasse” based on three areas: the cultivation of perfume plants, knowledge of raw materials and their processing, and the art of perfume composition. The association brings together a large number of practitioners (perfume plant growers, experts in natural raw materials and their processing, perfumers, foreign practitioners, scientists, elected officials, and representatives of civil society).
