Palais Brongniart

A landmark monument
and essential part of Parisian heritage

The Palais Brongniart was built by the architect Brongniart at the instigation of Napoleon Bonaparte. By laying the first stone in 1808, the emperor wanted to bring all stock exchange activities together in one place, a real innovation at the time aimed at optimising the existing system.

Inaugurated in 1826, the venue effectively became the hub of financial activity in the 19th century, promoting the expansion of railways, steel manufacturing and major industrial ventures until 1998, when the stock exchange at the Palais Brongniart closed.

Today, the Palais Brongniart is one of the leading conference and event centres in Paris, promoting a philosophy of economic, social and solidarity-based innovation. The project is led by the GL events group, one of the international leaders in event venue management, and the City of Paris, which owns the building.
