Exhibition Resurgences with Flair

The Flair Prize invites you to discover the exhibition Resurgences by the winner of its third edition, artist and designer Alexis Foiny.

Resurgences explores solastalgia through the scent of Bois puant (Foetidia mauritiana), an endemic tree from Mauritius and La Réunion now classified as critically endangered. Its acrid, rancid effluvium becomes a sensory archive of disappearing ecosystems, evoking broken interactions between plants, animals, and human practices. The work highlights the causes of this decline—urbanisation, habitat fragmentation, invasive species, and climate change—and enters into dialogue with the conservation research conducted by the Conservatoire Botanique National de Mascarin.
